How can I wear that summer dress in fall?

'How can I wear that summer dress in fall', you ask?  Gap Girl knows it's hard to part with some of your favorite summer pieces like this satin trim dress. The best part is, you don't have to.  With the right layering and color combinations you can take your summer looks well into the colder months.

We start with a simple sleeveless dress:

Then add a layer:

The dress is paired with a Gap staple, the supersoft long sleeved tee with colors that compliment the dress and are fall appropriate.  Remember:  fall is a time for rich, warm colors so indulge in burgundy and wine colors!  The layered long sleeves can look a bit much on their own, but never fear the outfit it never  complete without our fall go-to.

The Black Blazer:

After the Little Black Dress, the Black Blazer is a staple in every woman's wardrobe.  The casualness of the cotton tee and dress off-sets the everyday business appeal of the blazer.

Add a scarf, some glitzy jewelry if your heart desires and enjoy!  For the frigid days add stockings.  User discretion advised however, for extra layering such as stockings and even the long-sleeved shirt, you want to be careful of getting to bulky.  Don't layer chunky knits or thick tights under a dress this style/material (have tights and wondering what to do with them? That post is to come!)  Until next time, fashionistas.

xox,
Gap Girl
